English Premier League: quick review

This stands on top of the entire football played in England. It is on top of the English Football League System. Here, 20 clubs compete for the final trophy in a round robin system. The promotion and relegation system is applied. Here, the member clubs are seen as stakeholders in the premier league corporation. Each team encounters the others in a home and away fixture. This came into being when the members of the Football League First Division decided to move away from the Football League in 1992. This is because of the fact that they wanted to enjoy the huge gains from television rights, against the provisions of the 1888 Football League. In revenue, it generates €2.2 billion per year.

It is currently the most watched of all sports divisions in the world as 643 million homes watch it in 212 territories. This has had forty nine clubs as participants since 1992, and six out of the 49 has been champions. The current champion is Chelsea

English Championship

This is also called the Championship or the Sky Bet Championship. When you come to the English Football System, it is the second highest after the English Premier division. But when it comes to the English Football League, it tops. The 3 teams that finish top at the championship are promoted to the English Premier division at the end of every season, while those that finished bottom at the Premier division are relegated to the Championship.

From 1992 to 20014, it went with the name Football League First Division. But this was changed to the Championship in 2004. It involves 20 teams, and has been voted the wealthiest football division outside the top flight leagues. In terms of attendance, it comes second among the secondary leagues, after the 2. Bundesliga. The 2016-2017 Championship was won by Newcastle United, followed by Brighton and Hove Albion and then Huddersfield, and three of them joined the premier division.

English Championship

English League 1

Most people would prefer to call this the Sky Bet League One. When it comes to football divisions in England, it is the second highest. But when it comes to the overall ratings, it comes in the third tier. This came into existence in 2004. It used to be the Football League Third Division, and later, the Football League Second Division. Oldham Athletic has lasted longer than any other team here. It was out of it for 1996-1997 alone. It has seven premier division clubs currently in it, and they include Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic, Portsmouth, Oldham, Charlton, Bradford and Blackpool.

English League 2

This is also shortened as the League Two or the Skybet League Two. In the English football league, it stands as the third tier, and also the lowest of them all. In the English Football Professional System, it stands as the fought highest. It was also initiated in the 2004-2005 season when its name was changed from the Football League Third Division. The team that has been in this competition more than the others is Arrington Stanley. The last time it was outside it was in the 2005-2006 season. It was after this year that they came into this division from the Conference National, and they have been here since then.

This is a football competition for men, but it only covers the regions of South East and Eastern England and London. Most of the clubs that participate in this are semiprofessional, and Bostik is the official sponsor.

This competition has been in existence since 1905, and it presently has 72 teams from three divisions. This is part of the seventh and eighth level of football in England. It joins the Northern Premier and the Southern premier divisions to form this.

This is also referred to as the Evo-Stik League South. It is a men’s football competition, and it is played by amateur and semi professional clubs from the south western part of England. It also involves teams from the South Wales, Midlands of England, and South West, 'South Central. This, plus the Northern Premier and the Isthmian League, are regarded as the seventh and eight levels of the English Football System. It now involves 68 clubs in three different divisions, after evolving from the system it had when it started in 1894.

This is a professional development system for youths. The Premier division or Football League controls and manages this youth football development system, which came into being after the 2012 elite player performance plan was launched. This stepped out from the Football Commission, Premier Academy League and the Premier Reserve League. This is the system at the third tier of the under 18 system that includes the under 23 and under 21.
